Posting A New Announcement

To post a new announcement, navigate to your Community stream and click +Create announcement, located right below the Community name.

When composing an announcement, you can add the following components:

  • Title: Announcement titles show at the top of each Community and are important for letting students know the content of the announcement. Just like posts, announcement titles are optional.
  • Body: Type the main text of your announcement here. This field may also include web links or YouTube links. To embed a web link or YouTube video, copy and paste the URL and hit Enter or Space. A link summary will be generated and embedded in your announcement.
  • Summary: Write a summary of your announcement that will show when the announcement is expanded in the Community stream view.
  • Attachment: Just like posts, announcements can also have attachments. The maximum size for an uploaded file is 500 megabytes. MySciLife natively supports the following formats, although other file types can be added as attachments (500 mb limit)
  • Images:  .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png
  • Video:  .avi, .m4v, .mov, .mp4, .mpg, .wmv
  • Audio:  .mp3, .wav
  • Documents:  .doc, .pdf, .rtf, .txt

Rich Text Formatting
Teachers can use rich text formatting to make their announcements stand out. The rich text formatting tool bar at the top of the announcement post box includes the following options from left to right:
